Man accused of killing OPP officer dies in hospital

Fred Preston, 70, was identified by Ontario's Special Investigations Unit as the man involved in a "confrontation" with police, which resulted in the fatal shooting of O.P.P. Cst. Vu Pham.

The 70-year-old man charged with the first-degree murder of Ontario Provincial Police officer following an exchange of gunfire earlier this week died Thursday in hospital, according to a police statement.
