This story just goes to show what I've always said is true: People talk the talk when it comes to environmental and social issues, but when it affects or could affect their property values, these formerly altrustic things get relegated to NIMBY: Not In My Backyard. It doesnt have to be just wind farms but can also include things like halfway houses or homes for the mentally handicapped, who just want a chance to be a productive part of society. Forget about it! People in general it seems don't want anything that could help other people anywhere near them. Just part of that generous Canadian spirit we all hear about... ask a Native Canadian about that.
