DRYDEN, Ont. — Three people are dead after a plane crash in northwestern Ontario.

A pilot and two passengers of a Lockhart Air Service charter plane were en route to Cat Lake First Nation from Sioux Lookout Friday when they were reported missing that night.

The crew of a Hercules from CFB Trenton found the plane late Sunday night.

Capt. Mike Young, a spokesman for CFB Trenton, said two technicians jumped from the search aircraft at night under flares into dense forest where they found all three people dead in the wreckage.

He said the case has been turned over to the Ontario Provincial Police and the coroner for investigation.

Cat Lake First Nation is an isolated First Nations community of nearly 550 people accessible only by air. The names of the victims have not been released.
